Set in the golden era of Grand Prix Racing, "1" tells the story of a generation of charismatic drivers who raced on the edge, risking their lives during Formula 1's deadliest period for the chance of glory. Racing a Formula 1 car was never for the faint of heart. But in the late 1960's the cars doubled the size of their engines and sprouted wings making them incredibly quick and even more dangerous. With a new worldwide television audience and money pouring in from sponsorship came superstar drivers, thrown like gladiators in to the ring. The men who managed to survive during this era became leaders, standing up to save lives in a sport that was stealing them at an unacceptable rate. Using rare archival footage the greatest list of interviews ever assembled, "1" is about the spectacular birth of the greatest show on earth — Formula 1.
