About this movie

As Bobby Kennedy’s body was transported by train from New York to Washington D.C. following his assassination in 1968, Magnum photographer Paul Fusco captured indelible images of the thousands of mourners that lined the rail tracks to pay their respects. One Thousand Pictures combines stunning archive footage and contemporary interviews with many of the people caught in Fusco’s lens that day.The effect is a powerful and deeply moving account of a divided America, a country whose hopes and dreams of an egalitarian future died with Kennedy’s passing.

This doc is beautiful and moving. I was there. I was thrilled to be alive still to see a black man become President, but I'm beyond horrified to see that we are still where we were, illegal wars, race wars. I got chills, when the train went through Baltimore. Where would we have been had there not been all those assassinations, when I was a girl? How does hatred have such power? I'm ashamed of my country. Tears....
