Shaun Brumder (Hanks) is content to be a bright, talented, but unfocused Southern California surf slacker - until the day he discovers a novel by acclaimed author Martin Skinner. Meh... just dumb and has "cliché early 2000s teen movie" written all over it. I think everyone who rated this movie so highly was doing so out of sheer nostalgia.

Used to watch this as a kid. This movie has aged incredibly well. They don't make movies like this anymore!
