The tragic loss of their unborn child has devastated Kate (Vera Farmiga) and John (Peter Sarsgaard), taking a toll on both their marriage and Kate's fragile psyche as she is plagued by nightmares and haunted by demons from her past. Struggling to regain some semblance of normalcy in their lives, the couple decides to adopt another child. At the local orphanage, both John and Kate find themselves strangely drawn to a young girl named Esther (Isabelle Fuhrman)...but Esther is not what she appears to be and, concerned for the safety of her family, Kate tries to get John and others to see past Esther's sweet facade. But her warnings go unheeded until it may be too late...for everyone.

Creepy, exciting thriller/suspense movie. One of my favourite horror films. The plot/storyline reminds me of a feature in a news article or magazine that I remember reading online a few years ago on the topic of Romanian orphanages and how the children housed in the institutions were very poorly socialized and received almost no schooling/education or medical care and therapy for their severe medical conditions, which could have been minimized with early intervention and preventative care.Sad

A Really Amazing movie! I loved it!! Had to watch the remaining 20 mins in the Morning though i was just to scared to continue lol. I'm excited for Orphan 2 the summary of it Sounds like it'll be Good. Anyway this movie is Great, 10/10 you should totally watch. All the characters were Wonderful well not "All" i espically liked Kate and Maxine. It'd be nice if it showed what happened after all that like about Danny and with where they now live, like 1 year later. Bc of that i think i'll give 9/10

To be honest i had mix feelings when going into this. I didn't know what to think of it. But I'm so glad i watched it, it made me feel genuinely creep out. I felt a little dirty during the seductive scene between the man and the child actor, considering the fact the actress playing the unaging women is only twelve in this film. And she's wearing all black with red lipstick. I felt confused about this scene. But all and all, great movie
