The tragic loss of their unborn child has devastated Kate (Vera Farmiga) and John (Peter Sarsgaard), taking a toll on both their marriage and Kateﾒs fragile psyche as she is plagued by nightmares and haunted by demons from her past. Struggling to regain some semblance of normalcy in their lives, the couple decides to adopt another child. At the local orphanage, both John and Kate find themselves strangely drawn to a young girl named Esther (Isabelle Fuhrman). Almost as soon as they welcome Esther into their home, however, an alarming series of events begins to unfold, leading Kate to believe that thereﾒs something wrong with Estherﾗthis seemingly angelic little girl is not what she appears to be. Concerned for the safety of her family, Kate tries to get John and others to see past Estherﾒs sweet facade. But her warnings go unheeded until it may be too lateﾅfor everyone.

Best film I've seen in a while. It slowly builds up the tension and keeps you guessing!, It's quite nasty in places where you don't expect it to be.

The greatest film I have ever seen in my entire life, it keeps you guessing throughout the whole time. I would definitely recommend watching it if you haven't seen it already!!!

All fine up until the end. It's incredible what they try to pass off at the end, what they expect you to believe. It just shuts the creepy up in one foul sweep.
