Technically speaking, copper wire was never threatened by optic fiber. As time pass, people and industry consume more and more energy, have more devices, is more interconnected, and new technologies and markets need more and more wire. Even cars and planes consume a lor of wires in onboard-computers, sensors, accesories and automous-control and monitoring.
