While on holiday in Marrakech, an ordinary English couple, Perry (Ewan McGregor and Gail (Naomie Harris), befriend a flamboyant and charismatic Russian, Dima (Stellan Skarsgård), who unbeknownst to them is a kingpin money launderer for the Russian mafia.When Dima asks for their help to deliver classified information to the British Secret Services, Perry and Gail get caught in a dangerous world of international espionage and dirty politics. The couple is propelled on a perilous journey through Paris and Bern, a safe house in the French Alps, to the murky corners of the City of London and form an alliance with the British Government via a ruthless and determined MI6 agent (Damian Lewis - HOMELAND).

Well written, well acted, well thought out story with some interesting twists. There's not a lot of action that involves car chases or fancy effects but the story more than makes up for the lack of fireworks. It was interesting from start to end and had some thoughtful twists. Reminded me of "The Man Who Knew Too Much", at least in the beginning. I thought it was going to be a remake but it diverged pretty quickly from that classic. Overall, a movie worth watching and one that can be watched several times.

You will pardon my language, but...damn, this is some of the best acting I have seen in a long time. Oh so good. One watches this movie and is left with so many feelings. There is excitement, there is tension, there is worry and stress and what is going to happen next, then finally, the simple understanding that you have been well entertained. All I've got to say is...thank you.

This Oscar-winning combo does rightly by the way of getting into espionage without even trying to. Of course there are doubters that lend credence to whether or the plotting thickened Machivellian means to an end. But overall poignant to repair a couple's detachment. On the brink of final marital separation between them ultimately giving meaning to their lives and the lives of others. Filmed in spectacular locations. Superb quality of its casting and directing.
