In a departure from crime dramas Robinson shows his range as an immigrant farmer in rural Wisconsin. He plays a loving father to a wistful Margaret O'Brien with a beautiful screenplay by Dalton Trumbo

The most sensitive and endearing role I have ever seen Edward G. Robinson perform. He was made for this part, and I fell in love with him in this movie. Superb!

Remember when Giving to help a Neighbor meant something? This film was magnificent to watch visually, but it pulled my heart strings time and time again. I laughed so much at the children, and Ed G. Robinson and Agnes Moorehead played completely different characters from the norm. Incredible cast, script, and a must see!
