About this movie

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity's resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes - a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi - who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind's last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Yes it's predictable and utter tosh but it doesn't take itself too seriously (at least i hope it didn't) and it made for an enjoyable time waster. There were quite a few inconsistencies, if Stacker Pentecost (now there's a daft name) was so against Mako bring a pilot, it was rather handy there just happened to be a suit that fitted her perfectly while his own was a little tight but I still enjoyed it.

Shoot the script writers, the story was crap from the start. The acting was mediocre at best. fortunately the visual effects were fantastic but if only a little bit of effort had been made to make the story a tiny bit more consistent, just a tiny bit more...of a story, this could have been a magnificent movie. As it is I am glad i got it as a free upgrade to Superman, Man of steel.

Movies have genres for different entertainment needs. People here have either loved it or hated it... This can't be true. It is my conclusion that the haters are simply in the wrong genre or watched it on their mobile screen. To truely appreciate the grandeur of this movie you have to watch it big and loud and I promise you, you will come out smiling. There's a lot of things I don't like in the story line but that's said about most movies. This one truely entertains!... Don't forget the popcorn!
