When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity's resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes - a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi - who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind's last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Shoot the script writers, the story was crap from the start. The acting was mediocre at best. fortunately the visual effects were fantastic but if only a little bit of effort had been made to make the story a tiny bit more consistent, just a tiny bit more...of a story, this could have been a magnificent movie. As it is I am glad i got it as a free upgrade to Superman, Man of steel.

Pacific Rim could have been so much better if the storyline wasn't sacrificed for it's visual effects, action etc. The storyline seems half-done and missing and has holes in it. However, I cannot complain about the action and visual effects. If this review was based on the action and visual effects, I would have rated it 5 stars out of 5.

Massive let down for me. This is definitely my sort of movie. But Pacific Rim just wasn't as well written and played out as other recent robotic blockbusters. Graphics were okay though.
