Starring Franchot Tone, Alan Curtis and Ella Rains, Phantom Lady is a film noir thriller drenched in moodiness, rain-slicked streets and shadowy atmosphere. Carol Richman (Ella Raines) attempts to clear her boss (Alan Curtis) of a murder he did not commit. His alibi, a woman who was with him at the time of the murder and has since disappeared, falls apart when no one who saw them together will admit it. As she stalks suspects to save the man she loves, Carol faces anger at every turn. Based on the novel by Cornell Woolrich, this classic combines the skills of director Robert Siodmak (trained in German expressionism) with hose of producer Joan Harrison (trained under Alfred Hitchcock). 평가 및 리뷰

I was so glad to find this movie, because I love film-noir type movies from the 1930s to 1950s, but I felt like I was running out of good ones. If you like movies like Sorry, Wrong Number, The Dark Mirror, Shadow of a Doubt, Witness for the Prosecution, The Lady Vanishes, Dial M for Murder, The Blue Dahlia, The Big Clock, The Spiral Staircase, etc., you'll probably like this one.

I just caught the last half hour of this on TCM, but I liked it enough to buy it here.
