When Steve Freeling moves his family into a new house in the development where he is the top homes salesman, it looks like things are going well for him and his family. But as his wife, Diane, and his children, Dana, Robbie and little Carol Anne, begin to unpack and settle in, strange things start happening. Almost playful at first, a mysterious force begins stacking chairs on the kitchen table, or making objects slide across the floor. But the ghostly antics soon turn terrifying as the house, or something in it, starts attacking the Freeling family, and Carol Anne is abducted by evil spirits still trapped on Earth, looking to use her innocence to get into the afterlife. This truly frightening film was written and produced by Academy Award winner Steven Spielberg ("War of the Worlds"), directed by horror movie master Tobe Hooper (the original "Texas Chain Saw Massacre"), Craig T. Ugh... I remember watching this some time back. One of the worst movies I've ever watched. Cheesy, linear story that drags and drags, with cheap effects (not bad for the decade I guess) and lame scares.

I gave my tablet to my child to go to there anties and she typed in polltirgeust and she asks if she can buy it and she said YES then she had nightmares it was even scary for me now she will not sleep and she is only 3/4

Best horror movie loved it! Really loved it my favourite but at the end it was sad when that man gave his life to save the family but still loved it thank god a movie like this could be made it was amazing when we find out that all around the house were ghosts it shocked me it was a brilliant idea!!! Well done to the person who made the movie the director what an extremely good movie!! Good luck hope u make another movie like this!
