There were a lot of homages to the original (maybe too many), which would have been scarier if you are seeing these scenes for the first time. However, this version pales in comparison to the original. If there was a more original take to the Poltergeist story, I would have enjoyed it more. For those who have never seen the original, this would be a scary movie. However, I don't think it would create the kind of lasting imprint on one's mind like the original did for my generation. Overall, it is a fun movie to watch, but watch the original if you really want to enjoy a scary movie.

Cross between insidious and the original.. The little bit of thought that went into reimagining the story was boring, and I didn't care about any of the characters. The original had much more depth and I really wanted them to get the little girl back. This one felt rushed. They had over 30 years to remake it... It could have been better.

Acting was shoddy, story was almost identical to original save a few stupid twists I saw coming. It could have been something phenomenal with the right casting an a hard R rating. Enough with PG-13 "horror" movies that are "Unrated" please.
