Over deze film

Set in 79 A.D., Pompeii tells the epic story of Milo (Kit Harrington), a slave turned invincible gladiator who finds himself in a race against time to save his true love Cassia (Emily Browning), the beautiful daughter of a wealthy merchant who has been unwillingly betrothed to a corrupt Roman Senator (Kiefer Sutherland).  As Mount Vesuvius erupts in a torrent of blazing lava, Milo must fight his way out of the arena in order to save his beloved as the once magnificent Pompeii crumbles around him.

Not the worst movie I have ever seen but definitely not the best, not even close to the best movie I have ever seen. Unrealistic, Arena comes down on Kiefer Sutherland's (Senator Corvus) head, knocked out for a few minutes, gets up without a scratch while everyone around him was crushed to death or dying. The Gods weren't good to him, the writers were, Kit Harington (Milo) was boring, hard to believe he was a gladiator. The only decent actor was Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Atticus) made a good gladiator

It was a decent flick. The gladiator part of the movie is just a side story. I did googled about the history of pompeii and was actually surprised that the movie is based on historic events, so I based my ratings on that. You can tell the movie was rushed to squeeze as much of the plot into 90min. I have to give credit to Paul ws Anderson for attempting this kind of movie because Hollywood doesn't make movies like this anymore if not rarely. That being said only ridley Scott is king of filming epic movies.

I like the movie. I am 43 years old and since I was 8, my love of studying about volcanoes and Pompeii have grown deeper. Any movie that is made involving volcanoes and Pompeii I want to see. I enjoyed this movie. I do know the letters that Pliny the Younger wrote stated there were great movements in the water, which may be why they put the tsunami in the movie and during the Roman Republic of the first century, Gladiatorial games were forms of entertainment so that's why it was probably in the movie. It's according to what volcano and location the speeds but this volcano had speeds of 459 mph pyroclastic flow with 1467° Fahrenheit heat in 1944 eruption.
