Le cinéaste Yorgos Lanthimos réalise cette fable étonnante et fantastique racontant l'évolution de Bella Baxter (Emma Stone) une jeune femme ramenée à la vie par un savant brillant et peu conventionnel, le Pr Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). Sous sa protection, Bella a soif d'apprendre. Désireuse de connaître le monde extérieur, Bella s'embarque avec Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), un avocat fourbe et débauché, dans une aventure tourbillonnante sur plusieurs continents. Étrangère aux préjugés de son époque, Bella fonce tête baissée dans sa quête d'égalité et d'émancipation. Avec aussi Ramy Youssef, Christopher Abbott et Jerrod Carmichael, "Pauvres créatures" est écrit par Tony McNamara, d'après le roman d'Alasdair Gray, et produit par Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe, Yorgos Lanthimos et Emma Stone.

Not good. I don't understand the love this film has gotten. I couldn't stop looking at the clock while watching. The first half at least had a good chunk of humor to keep you interested. After that, it just was a drawn out softcore porn film. If you really like seeing Emma Stone's nipples and seeing her have sex, this movie is your type of content. If you're looking for anything outside of that, this movie falls short most all-the-time. Don't waste your money cause you're not missing anything.

Shades of Frankenstein but really I think the underlying theme of the movie is the age long struggle between the sexes. A tongue and cheek snipe at men who for so long has had the pivotal role in Hollywood ever since the time when man first discovered the wheel or was it woman? Putting that aside and copious amount of nudity, it was delightful and entertaining throughout. It was different, it pulled you in and the squares don't fit in the round holes but who cares, I had fun watching.

the first bit was creepy and weird. once I got through that, I really enjoyed the emerging personality of the MC and the beauty of the way it was filmed. I can see how some people might get hung up about their concepts of sexual morals. That is the point ;)
