Sobre este filme

Part live action, part surreal animation, POP MEETS THE VOID is a dark comedy about an unhinged musician preoccupied with daydreams of (imaginary) massive success as he struggles to release his first album after 15 years of recording songs alone. As he finally appears to have made a breakthrough after countless hours of work, his laptop dies and he struggles to find a way to fix it. His only option seems to be selling his soul to the devil. Winner of Best Feature Film at the Lower East Side Film Festival, POP MEETS THE VOID features popular NYC comedians Sarah Tollemache, Jordan Carlos, and Alexis Pereira, as well as legendary experimental filmmaker Bill Morrison, in supporting roles alongside writer/director/musician/star William Cusick.

Beautiful and enjoyable ride through the artistic process. Pop Meets the Void explores what it means to pursue your craft (in this case music) and the alternative realities of a musician by turns struggling, succeeding, and well, just working. Compellingly acted by William Cusick (who also wrote and directed the film) along with a talented supporting cast, and glittering with mesmerizing special effects. This musical journey is by turns laugh-out-load funny, magical, and tragic. Enter the void for a good time!

You have never seen a film quite like POP MEETS THE VOID. It's timeline-twisting mix of visual wizardry perfectly matches the story of the many possible lives of a talented but unlucky bedroom musician. You may think you've seen movies like this before, but this film does several entirely new things with the concept. At the same time, the film is entertaining and light on its feet, even in its bleakest moments. Highly recommended if you're looking for something different from the standard cinematic fare.

This movie is hilarious. It's a psychedelic fantasy that weaves in an out of a musician's mind through the various states of his real and imagined life in a way that you can't really tell which is which, and you realize it doesn't matter. Using these states like parallel universes of the main character it touches on all the different states of being a creative person. It shows all the frustrations, fears and dreams of grandeur with surprising humor, great music and freaking UNBELIEVABLY BEAUTIFUL IMAGERY. There's even a surprise ending (in a way - no spoilers). If you're a fan of true independent cinema and you like to walk off the well worn path of Hollywood studio plots to have new experiences, this film is as entertaining as they get.
