Film honi buruz

Everyone thinks career woman Cissy has an ideal life - except Cissy. Striving to be the "good girl" at home and at work has left her on the verge of a breakdown. Her childless marriage to a handsome architect has gone stale, while questions about babies pepper every well-meaning conversation with family and friends. The cultural abyss dividing Cissy and her traditional Asian parents drives her to rebel against expectations and defy societal taboos... awakening something so primal it is both shocking and revelatory.

Oscar Torre (The Hangover 3, Counterpunch) makes his directorial debut with Pretty Rosebud. Written by Chuti Tiu (The Internship, Rampart) and produced by Rebecca Hu (40 is the New Dead, 1001 Ways to Enjoy the Missionary Position). Starring: Chuti Tiu, Kipp Shiotani, and Dana Lee.

Pretty Rosebud is a tale of a woman who has reached her breaking point. The pressures of her normal life drive her over the edge. Give this polished indie film a watch and see what you think.

I found this to be an excellent film, very thought provoking. The writer and lead actress Chuti Tiu really made me feel her character's struggle. I could totally relate with her life's journey and how sometime's once gets a little lost in the process to finding out who you really are and how you'd like to live your life , not how other's (family, culture, religion) want you to live it. I felt the cast was solid all around with actors whom I recognize from film and TV. The film was also well shot and directed. I highly recommend it!!!

I loved this film. I should have bought this rather than rented it. It's a keeper. The lead is a fabulous actress. The family are very believable and stay with you after the film has finished. To me this film was about the painful yet liberating transformation that can come from daring to ask yourself, as a woman, "how did I get here?", "why am I doing this?"... or "what are my needs?" Most women who have undergone some sort of transformation through a failed marriage will resonate with this film. I also liked how nobody was to blame in this film... this film doesn't pint fingers. It just presents things for you to think about. We (an others) suffer when we aren't honest with ourselves.
