About this movie

Frank Castle, former Marine and FBI agent now turned dedicated vigilante, begins a path of destruction through violent criminals across the country. After Castle kills a powerful mafia don, a previously exiled under-boss named Billy Russo returns to New York. Russo (eager to take control of the criminal underworld) convinces the remaining mob leaders that he can kill Castle, AKA the Punisher. The struggle turns in to a three-way battle when FBI agent Stephanie West aims to take both Castle and Russo off the streets. Absolutely awful. This film has literally no redeeming features. ok so maybe that's not entirely true... most of the actors are doing a pretty good job at what is what seems to be a total hack job. The story is bad. The scenes are bad.. there is no rhyme or reason to half of what is happening and unless you are a 14 year old boy you'd realise that half of the gun fights are physically impossible.... why... .why? i mean WHY would you hang upside down from a f'ing chandelier and fire two MPK-5's for what seems like 80 to 100 rounds and then just drop your guns like a used tissue. "Oh that's nothing I'll just go get some more fully automatic weapons from the newsagents tomorrow" and that's just in the first 20 mins. Classic Hollywood thinking "oh it's a comic... comics are for kids.... there for it doesn't have to make sense". YES comics take a leap of faith, yes they also "do things" that aren't possible in real life like... slash peoples faces off with a glass crushing machine but I think they are mistaking "comic" for "comedy" or "comedic". The previous punisher film was dark and gritty and had a plot! This is just a total MESS... (I rented not bought, now I'll never buy)

I would of give this film a 3 bk in 08, i found it a good but average film. After a nostalgic quarantine rewatch i can honestly say i found the film to be very like the punisher comics with slapstick crazy gangster characters with over the top action sequences and i loved all of it because of that. This goes back to a time before movies had to shoe horn political agendas in them (including series shows). This is a cult film in my opinion, it just tells a story in its own universe. Escapism time.

Not bad at the start..very gory which kinda ruined the film and made it hard to watch....shame because it seems like marvel will never do the character justice.
