Legendary radio personality Bob Fass revolutionized the FM airwaves in the 1960s and '70s with his free-form program Radio Unnameable, a cultural hub for music, politics, and audience engagement. For nearly 50 years, he has been heard at midnight on New York City listener-sponsored station WBAI, utilizing the airwaves for mobilization long before today's innovations in social media. I rigged my very analog/manual Akai tape recorder, using Scotch's longest tape, to record mono tracks, getting 12 hours on one tape. I would listen to them later, then later by years...loaned them to a buddy, and he recorded LP's over all of them. I went to the Fly-In, where Bob had told us we had to be there by mid-night. Drove down from Connecticut, was running late, parked in the lot and ran to the terminal. Came thru the door, everyone cheered me, the late guy, all eyes on me. ThankYou BOB!
