Meer oor hierdie fliek

In this darkly comic gem, it's Christmas Eve in northern Finland, and an archeological dig has just unearthed Santa Claus. But this Santa isn't one you want coming to town. When local children begin disappearing, Pietari and his father capture the mythological being and attempt to sell Santa to the corporation sponsoring the dig.

Unlike Any Horror, Thriller, Christmas Film Ever!! A well written story, great characters, and wonderful location. All of the snow and ice in the setting definitely bring the Winter Holiday feel to life. It certainly seems like a place you'd expect to find Santa Claus, but this Santa isn't the Jolly St. Nick children know and Love. A definitive departure from the norm, but a welcome addition to my Film Faves. If you like Foreign Locales and Languages, Twisted Fairy Tales, and the Film American Psycho, Rare Exports is Undoubtedly a Film for you.

Enjoyed the story very much, not as scary as I had anticipated. Roger Ebert gave it rave reviews. Good fun listening to my language.

This is by far one of the best holiday movies for people who really dislike holiday movies. If you find yourself dreading another boring viewing of It's a Wonderful Life or The Santa Clause (ugh), watch this instead. It's a refreshing break from the bullish!t surrounding Christmas. Its my new standard beside A Nightmare Before Christmas. Also the Finnish landscape in winter will really make you appreciate your own rather tame 1-2 inches of snow. Unless of course you live in Scandinavia.
