Del productor Steven Spielberg, llega la aventura de acción de ciencia ficción “Ready Player One: Comienza el juego”, basada en el libro de mayor venta del mismo nombre de Ernest Cline. La película se desarrolla en el año 2045 con el mundo al límite del caos y del colapso. Sin embargo, las personas han encontrado la salvación en el OASIS, un expansivo universo de realidad virtual creado por el brillante y excéntrico James Halliday (Mark Rylance). Cuando Halliday muere, deja su inmensa fortuna a la primera persona que encuentre el huevo de Pascua digital que él escondió en algún lugar del OASIS, iniciando un concurso que fascina a todo el mundo. Cuando un extraño y joven héroe llamado Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) decide participar en el concurso, es arrojado a una búsqueda del tesoro vertiginosa y con la realidad distorsionada a través de un universo fantástico de misterio, descubrimiento y peligro.

Calificaciones y opiniones

I loved the book, so I went to watch RPO in theaters at the release. I never expect the movie to be as good as the book, but this movie just screws up in all the worst ways. The fact that a few people fell asleep midway through says it all. The most significant parts of the story are left out, while all the scenes with action are kept in without much context. Almost every story element is out of order and the character depictions poorly resemble the original book versions. Just a disappointment.

This is actually a lot of fun. I don't know if it will hold up over time as reference movies are becoming a genre, but in my opinion this was a lot of fun. The references felt genuine in context with the game and the movie still holds up without needing to rely on it. If I hadn't seen Space Jam 2, Rescue Rangers, and many others since I'd probably give this a 4.

I loved the book so much and hated the changes in the film. Understanding that there was a need to cut time down to tell the story, I just thought it took too many freedoms to do so while sharing a different telling of the story. That said, I'd watch it again and maybe grow to enjoy it for the cinematics but do yourself a favor and read the book. Or listen to it with Will Wheaton who did a phenomenal job!
