Having been bought to tears by the documentary 'Senna' recently, I was hoping to be equally moved by 'Red Army' and although it is Interesting, Informative and Eye opening; I can't help but feel that it lacks any real heart to the story. There's no real emotion, just facts. Similar to the the soviet regime of that time i guess; slightly void of personality. Still worth a watch to learn abut the historical/political/social situation between the USA and Russia during the cold war era and the impact that has left behind though

This film combines two of my passions: Russian and ice-hockey, so I am massively biased. That said it's a fascinating story, very well told, and well shot. The film charts the political and cultural life of Russia too. Fetisov's life trajectory is simply unparalleled and greater than any other hockey player who ever lived. My one gripe is that quite a few segments contain Russian speech and I didn't see subtitles: for non-Russian speakers, this could be a problem. Best hockey documentary I've ever watched.
