From the first moment wisecracking Vantine (Harlow) takes refuge on the plantation run by Carson (Gable), he sizes her up as an easy mark for his virile charm. But when a research engineer (Gene Raymond) and his elegant wife, Barbara (Mary Astor), appear on the scene, Carson falls hard for the beautiful Barbara, discarding Vantine as nothing more than a "cute little trick." The steamy rivalry between the women soon boils into a jealous rage -- with violent consequences. Love Jean Harlow. Can't decide if I like Clark Gable. I'm a fan of old black and white movies, though that in itself isn't a genre, this is a good black and white movie. Overall, a good movie. Reminds me of Mogambo (don't know if I spelled it right) the Clark Gable and Ava Gardner movie.

This is really great for a movie made so long ago. It is not unrealistically prim and proper. Harlow and Gable play well off each other
