RED HOOK SUMMER tells the story of Flik Royale, a young boy from middle-class Atlanta who comes to spend the summer with his grandfather, in the housing projects of Red Hook.

I'm a huge Spike Lee fan. This film featured some themes that Lee doesn't often address, such as the Black church & its role in that community. After watching this movie I told EVERYONE about it & urged them to see it immediately. Clarke Peters' performance was harrowing! McBride did some wonderful writing also. Those sermons were amazing!

This movie is definitely not for everybody. It's slow-paced about hard topics without clear answers. Nevertheless great movie.

Great movie with a unfinished ending. Its a Spike Lee Joint. The ending leaves you wanting to know more what happened to the grandfather.
