Shortly after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Pittsburgh Penguins and the famed Red Army hockey team formed a joint venture that redefined what was possible in the new Russia. Eccentric marketing whiz, Steve Warshaw, is sent to Moscow and tasked to transform the team into the greatest show in Russia, attracting some of the biggest names in Hollywood and advertising along the way. He takes the viewer on a bizarre journey highlighting a pivotal moment in U.S.-Russian relations during a lawless era when oligarchs made their fortunes and multiple murders went unsolved.

I can't believe Steve Warshaw did't see it coming, that there would be infiltration by the Russian mafia in a basically lawless country. He should have known better and this documentary is not funny or entertaining at all. It's sad that Russian hockey was destroyed by their mafia, but Vladimir Putin learned how to become a respectable criminal and how to become a friend to the reprehensible Donald Trump, so Russia has the last laugh.

Fantastic look into a fantastic, mesmerizing time in Soviet/USA relations! And the Steve Warshaw character is equally fascinating to observe, fun film in a disturbing way . . . 👍👍👍👍👍
