In a small town, an innocent orphan boy is hoping to find a place to call home. Maddie Blanton kindly welcomes her new charge, but her husband, Carl (Luke Perry), and his mother (Frances Fisher), are suspicious of the boy. As Francis becomes a man, and fuelled by accusations from Carl's mistress, Vera (Joelle Carter, Justified), he is forced to leave the farm and finds employment with Jim Verret (Bill Paxton).
