This gritty emotionally charged film is set amidst the abandoned beaches and faded glory of Coney Island, Brooklyn. Based upon the novel by celebrated author Hubert Selby Jr., the story intricately links the lives of a lonely widowed mother (Academy Award Winner Ellen Burstyn), her son Harry (Jared Leto), his beautiful girlfriend Marion (Jennifer Connelly) and his best friend Tyrone (Marlon Wayans). REQUIEM FOR A DREAM is a hypnotic tale of four human beings each pursuing their vision of happiness. Even as everything begins to fall apart, they refuse to let go, plummeting with their dreams into a nightmarish gut-wrenching freefall.

This is one powerful movie. I've never felt so much emotion at the end of a film as this one.The story telling is just amazing. One word of warning though, don't watch this film if your feeling down because it might tip you over the edge!

Amazing movie, but devastatingly depressing. This movie shows the different stages of addiction through 4 characters, the way the film explores these different stages and how they affect the characters is truly heartbreaking and terrifying at times with some of the claustrophobic cinematography. The ending of the film is honestly one of the most devastating movie endings I’ve seen and will stick with me for a while. Stunning film for sure, but not an easy watch.
