Couldnt get into despite the stars in the movie. Jennifer Hudsondoes great in the role but other Aretha Franklin movies have her as a tough woman who fought and struggled to make it. Not get abused and curl up in a ball....her first stand up moment was after being abused and her career almost sacrificed for a man. Looking at other Aretha Franklin shows has left me wondering how Auntie Ree really was.....

Respect is a film all should see, even if the film could show more history. Jennifer Hudson does a pretty good job as Aretha, potraying her issues she had and her rising in the industry. The film is an important example of rising above evil in The Lord, Jesus is our only hope. Jennifer Hudson also sings so great so she defiently sings really great in Respect. The ending scene is a besutiful symbol of powerfulness. Defiently see Respect!

Jennifer Hudson, Forrest Whittaker, and Mary J Blige all do a great job in this movie. I think Marlon Wayne's acting didn't do the role any favors (I kept waiting for him to say something funny). Overall I thought there were important moments of Aretha's life that were left out which is why I give it three stars.
