Reimaginando a amada história de Roald Dahl para o público moderno, CONVENÇÃO DAS BRUXAS, inovado visualmente por Robert Zemeckis, conta uma história com um humor nefasto e cheio de emoção de um garoto órfão (Bruno) que, no final de 1967, vai morar com sua amada avó (Spencer) na cidade rural de Demopolis, no Alabama. Lá eles acabam encontrando algumas bruxas falsamente glamorosas, mas bastante diabólicas. Então a vovó, sabiamente, envia nosso jovem herói para um distante e opulento resort à beira-mar. Infelizmente eles chegam no mesmo período em que a Grande Bruxa Superior (Hathaway) reuniu suas parceiras de todo o mundo, disfarçadas, para seguir com seus planos sórdidos.

Nothing to do with the cost.... I'm sorry to say this was terrible. "Intro" before they get to the hotel too long, depressing and boring. In my opinion it's not suitable for little children. I think AH is a great actress but she's really bad in this, the accent ruins all dialog. The story is then rushed at the end. Sorry but it's just not worth watching, don't waist your money.

A fresh, yet faithful, adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic; The Witches 2020 succeeds in casting a charming spell over its audience. This is a story about the struggle of an orphaned boy and his grandma against a secret and dark world order controlled by witches. A much loved 1983 novel of the same name and a 1990 film, Robert Zemeckis, director, had a lot to live up to. But the Back To The Future director pulls it off in style with outstanding performances and special effects to match

SPOILERS Black representation means nothing if studios still continue to roll out tired black stereotypes. The witches in this movie only target poor black children. Octavio plays another Mammy character, she religious but also does Voodoo, she loves fried chicken. Now I know why my friends parents keep apologising about the chicken at dinner time, clearly been watching stuff like this. Most reviewers ignored these tired troupes , but choose to focus interpretation of the witches limbs.
