À propos de ce film

In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the centre of robot technology. Overseas, their drones have been used by the military for years -- and it's meant billions for OmniCorp's bottom line. Now OmniCorp wants to bring their controversial technology to the home front, and they see a golden opportunity to do it. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) --  a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit -- is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer.  OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and even more billions for their shareholders, but they never counted on one thing: there is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice.

If like me you saw the originals at the cinema and love anything sci-fi, you're probably looking forward to this reboot. I really really tried to like it. It's got Samuel Jackson, Michael Keaton and Gary Oldman, how could they go wrong. Unfortunately the plot is baggy and aimless. The script is dull and unimaginative and even with those three gents acting their socks off to rescue it, it soon degenerates into a confused, boring muddle. Frankly it's so lacking in any passion or depth they could have been making a film about turnip farming. Another disappointing remake in the mould of Total Recall. Two stars because of the CGI, but CGI does not a good movie make.

An entire film written around one scene ... and that scene amputates any sense of human connection the audience has with Murphy. Please stop using the plot-bollox device that is 'grit teeth try harder' ... It is really boring for anyone who is no longer in kindergarten (intellectually speaking). I was so looking forward to this and thoroughly disappointed. He's a robot, walking about like a bloke. His legs should spin around, body armour move like a transformer and have belly blasters. Unimaginative!

The action sequences are good but very first person shooter, as if it was more marketing driven than story driven. The themes are nowhere near as poignant and relevant as the original and some parts, like where murphy seemed not in touch with his human side for a while just seemed like a shoe horned in aspect of the original. Generally an entertaining watch, not as good as the original.
