I loved this movie and am not one of the biggest Elton John fans. I have always liked his music but not a TOTAL fan type. What I liked about it was it was done from what I thought was his viewpoint. An honest look at oneself and almost like one of the 12 Steps. Sure it was glamorized and hollywood-ized, and had sex drugs and rock and roll, but come on - at that time that is what he was into! So it was truthful. I did not think any of those parts were over the top. A little boy just wanting to be loved and accepted - at the same time one of the most talented performers of his time and now too. I am so glad he found his REAL life and is a happy man now. If I had the money I would go to one of his concerts now and I am 70 yrs old! The young man playing him was wonderful, such a good job. They all did, but especially him.

If you truly like Elton John and his music... DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE!! This movie forever molds Elton John as the epitome of a deviant loser. It in no way focuses on his actual talent, musc, and spirit. In true hollywood spirit of greed to get the dollar - hollywood focuses on the thing they think will bring in the most box office dollars... SEX DRUGS DEBAUCHERY AND DEGRESSION! Just a truly disgusting carnival of over the top efforts to shock and zap you with disgusting details. The music in no way pays homage to the greatness of this artist - and the musical dance scenes are just a complete trainwreck of a joke.

I ADORE this movie. Not only were the actors a fantastic choice, especially Taron himself, but the way they portray his life through symbolism and give you an idea of what he's feeling is just phenomenal. The songs chosen to represent certain life stages both delighted me and broke my heart. This movie does indeed showcase the highest highs and the lowest lows of his life, and the emotions were real and genuine. This was very insightful into the life of Elton as he saw it and the fact that Elton himself had a large part in creating this movie speaks to its accuracy. Every time I watch it I notice something new and I just love this movie more and more.
