What a film. I have always had a soft spot for Elton, so many of his songs have always found a special place in my heart and this film now sits there as well. Taron is absolutely spectacular as Elton from his early years through the tough ones and coming out the other side. Like wise Jamie Bell is incredible as Bernie Elton's best friend and writing buddy. The film is just flawless for me, better then Bo Rap which is not to take anything away from Queens Bio pic, but this is in another level.

This film doesn't really celebrate Elton's music. This is partly because Edgerton's voice does not do him justice. But it's also because while the film is good at depicting the lows of his life, it never really allows the highs to have their moment - using some of his most jubilant music like Benny, Rocketman and Yellow Brick Rd to depict depressing scenes from his life. However, Jamie Bell is fantastic as usual.

The acting was phenomenal and they featured Elton's music well throughout the movie. They also did an adequate job of portraying Elton's life. However, this could not save the movie from feeling boring, repetitive, slow paced and somehow copied (in concept) from other movies released earlier than this one.
