Two playwritghts (Dudley Moore and Mary Steenburgen), as they will, meet. They decide to collaborate--romance blooms and sputters. They continue to work together and marry--but not to each other. She marries Ron Leibman; he marries Janet Eilber. Although married to other people, their writing collaboration flourishes. (Well, not entirely; there are some flops--like a horrendous adaptation of "The Dollhouse.") Moore is still in love with Steenburgen. But he stifles his feelings--for "art." A good choice? This charming romantic comedy gives you all the ammunition to decide. Adapted from the Bernard Slade play. Music by Marvin Hamlisch. Also starring Frances Sternhagen and Robyn Douglass.
