The film has the potential to be amazing. So when it stops short at crucial character and plot development stages and also shies away diving in deep to answer some questions it's all the more disappointing, hence only 3 stars. It is a good movie worth watching. But could have been soooo much better.

People love Room because the idea of a kid raised in the shed of his mum's kidnapper is interesting, and because the kid's cute, and because you feel good when they escape. But the film is generic fucking garbage. Boring writing, uninspired unappealing cinematography, just serviceable acting, god-awful soundtrack, it's just so utterly blaaaaaand on every level. Jesus christ. Do they people who worked on this film just have no fucking imagination or personality or what

It was a very nearly 3 stars. But the shocking second half knocked it. There is some sort of ending just after an hour in. But then it goes on... after this, there's no storyline, no substance and no sense. It had the potential to have a cracking second half but they decided not to go along the route of justice. You'll see what I mean if you watch it.
