Ratings and reviews

I was really impressed with this film. It is extreme subject matter, but is viewed through the eyes of a child who's mother has done her best to shelter him from the bleak reality (and danger) of their situation. I don't understand the negative reviews but for some I guess they might find it a bit depressing or a situation they don't want to have to think about. Not for me, I loved it, and found myself completely invested in these two surviving and moving on with their lives.

Read the book years ago and never forgot it. This is a beautiful film with incredible acting. The boy's performance is especially outstanding. The only downer is that the trailer gives away what the book synopsis didn't. This is a must see nonetheless.

Not sure whether I wanted to watch this movie as I thought it may have been slow and depressing. However I found it to be heart wrenching, warm, tender and insightful.
