Apie šį filmą

From the directors of Little Miss Sunshine comes an engaging and charming romantic comedy starring Paul Dano and writer-actress Zoe Kazan. Struggling with writer's block and a lackluster love life, once-famous novelist Calvin (Dano) creates a beautiful fictitious character named Ruby (Kazan), who inspires him. But not only does this bring his work to life -- it also brings Ruby to life -- literally! Face-to-face with an actual relationship with his once-virtual girlfriend, Calvin must now decide whether to pen this love story or let it write itself. Also starring Annette Bening, Antonio Banderas and Elliott Gould, Ruby Sparks is an inspired coming of age story that proves true love can be magical.

I want to like this film - fantastic acting, loads of quaintly funny bits and great locations but you can't escape that it ignores that the story is romanticising an abusive relationship of genuine control. The last 15 minutes as well really ruined the whole film. 'That' scene made the main character so unlikeable that I lost all sympathy for him so the ending was more infuriating than what it was properly aiming for. Watch this if you can ignore the above :) I wish I could.

An amazing story which sheds light on the difficulty of being a writer/artist/creator and their role with reality. It tells a story that we all can relate to. We all create the people we fall in love with. We all have ideals of who they are and once we get to know them they either defy our preconceived notions and it ends or something even more magical than we could've imagined begins, we fall in love with who they actually are! The story is amazing and has many layers.

Not your average rom com. Dark in places, one in particular. Still the best I've seen in ages.
