About this movie

The story of the traumatic childhood of writer Augusten Burroughs. After his parents' divorce, Augusten is abandoned by his mentally unstable, aspiring-poet mother and sent to live with her fraudulent psychiatrist and his nutty family. Realizing at age 13 that he is gay, he has an affair with another, 33 year old, adopted son. At 17, Augusten finally escapes the emotional chaos and moves to New York to become a writer. © 2006 TriStar Pictures, Inc. All Rights Reserved.

I balled my eyes out after this film. His mother is the epitome of mine. Once well off and only slightly crazy to off the wall - dishes in the yard, house forclosed on, dad left, sister left.... to all those who gave this rottem tomatoes you really miss the gem in this. But then again most people arent PRIVILEGED enough to have an eccentric crazed mother, or felt the pain of watching from helpless adolescents as your family life falls apart. So for this I give 5 ☆'s
