I am extremely disappointed with this film. The voice actors are too different from the straight to home release films. They should have stuck with the amazing talent that they already have with the straight to home release films. This story is hardly a mystery, more focused on an adventure theme. Frank Welker still does an amazing job but the animation does not look right and the new voice actors do not fit the characters. The four live action movies that were made had different actors in but they still replicated the characters personalities. This has gone too far by just changing them completely. The child versions of the characters also sound too American and high pitched nothing like they should be. I also think the origin story is extremely bad in this film. I am a huge long term fan of Scooby-Doo. My favourite origin story is from "Scooby-Doo: The Mystery Begins" which is a live action Television film made for Cartoon Network. All of the actors in The Mystery Begins portrayed the characters excellently even though they were not the original voice actors. People do not watch Scooby-Doo for the celebrities, they might if they are watching the new series "Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?" but that is besides the point. Scoob! had a high budget with a huge cinematic effect but there was not much mystery overall. There's action, adventure, twists. But there is not much focus on the theme of mystery at all! The actor who has portrayed Shaggy in Scoob should not have been cast in my opinion. I think that Warner Brothers should have stuck with the great Matthew Lillard who does a great job of voicing shaggy and has done for around 10 years now. He was also in the cinematic live action Scooby Doo films which he did a very good job in too. The voice actor who is playing Velma seems as if they are portraying her as very shy and girly. Velma is not that girly and she is extremely confident in the information that she provides when trying to solve the mystery. Is this the same studio that creates the straight to video releases? I don't think that it is the same team but it should have been. There is a new straight to home release Scooby-Doo coming out fairly soon called "The Sword and the Scoob" about a story based in England themed around time travel and the sword in the stone. This storyline would have been an absolutely amazing film to have cinematically released! I am looking forward so much to when it is released in February. Daphne's voice actor within scoob does not seem to grasp the character that well either. The gang does not have the traits that we all know and love. I think that Warner Brothers had good intentions of trying to appeal to a new audience and a new generation but I think that it would have been much better if they had stuck with origins and continuity. A computer animation might have been a good idea but they did not get this entirely right. Recasting may have seemed a good idea in creation but you CANNOT replace the Scooby-Doo voice actors. This is a fact. If you are a devoted Scooby-Doo fan like myself then I would say to you that this film is not even worth watching. Simon Cowell makes an appearance for no reason at all and they keep mentioning him throughout the rest of the film for some reason. The gang do not have any chemistry because the characters sound quite awkward when they are interacting due to the lack of chemistry between the voice actors. Daphne, Velma and Fred do not look quite right either due to the animation as they seem to have been animated too realistically. I love Scooby-Doo and the characters are all iconic but the animation of the gang from this film looks as though they have all been taken from a Japanese manga video. I think that they have done a very good job with the mystery machine, I think that many fans would actually agree with me on this that the mystery machine looks very realistic but keeps to the original style that Scooby-Doo has established over 50 years. Overall, don't watch, watch a straight to home video release instead!

You moaners realise that the price is so high to rent because this film should be in the cinema right? Its on "early release" to the rental platforms and will come down in in price once its in its rental/buy phase. So either pay up now and its cheaper than a visit to the cinema, or wait until its at a price you are happy to pay. I'm looking forward to watching this with my son.
