Beginning with hitting pebbles on the beach with a makeshift 3 iron, Seve: The Movie ensures that we understand the hard beginnings of one of the world’s most charismatic golfers. Combining reenactments of Seve Ballesteros’ childhood in Spain with archival footage of his triumphs at the British Open and US Masters, Director John-Paul Davidson weaves together a tale of a young man’s perseverance and ultimate triumph. Universally relatable, golfers and non-golfers alike will be urging Ballesteros on as he works his way up from a fan of the game to one of its legends. Actor Jose Luis Gutierrez does an excellent job as young Ballesteros, radiating all the charm of the golfer himself. With its tale of determination and its portrayal of a fascinating sports figure, there is a little something for everyone.

As an avid lover of film, Seve the Movie struck my heart with inspiration, motivation, and most importantly, boundless hope for the future. I do not know much about the sport of golf, but Seve the Movie did a superb job of informing me about Spanish professional golf legend, Seve Ballesteros, but did so in an innovative, absorbing approach. Never did my curiosity about the player, or his childhood, waver, and I learned so much about Ballesteros’ dedication to, and passion for, golf. Seve the Movie is a powerful journey of what it takes to be the best, to be a champion. A must see film for all people who have ever had a dream.

Seve the Movie was an inspirational look at a sport that doesn't get enough credit. This film follows the life of Seve Ballesteros and how he overcame the struggles he faced to become one of the best golfers in the world. Between Jose Luis Gutierrez's portrayal of a young Seve and the story of his childhood, there comes archival footage from Ballesteros' golfing days, as well as interviews with the legend himself. I would highly recommend this film to anyone who loves a heartwarming underdog story, and of course, to anyone who loves the game of golf.
