I'm sure back when racism, sexism, and rape were ok this movie was great, but it doesn't hold up anymore. You spend the entire movie hating this kid (Tony) and his friends, and not once is there a redeeming moment. I thought it was a redemption story, and it just wasn't. "Oh I'm sorry I attempted to rape you, can we be friends?" isn't redemption. It wasn't redemption back then either. This movie should be destroyed, no moral, no story, just some idiot dancing thug who doesn't learn any real lessons.

I like all of the dance floor scenes, including the one with the Bee Gees
song, "You Should Be Dancing," but the ending and the fact that John
Travolta's character is an a-hole does not make it my favourite movie.

There were entirely too many rape scenes. I couldn't even focus on the dancing and the family story was almost non-existent. I just couldn't handle watching two rapes and an attempted rape.
