During the final days of the 1997 election campaign, Labour candidate Bertie Oldcross is out campaigning with his manager Simon when they accidentally run over a local man in the darkness. Reporting the accident would be political suicide, so they decide to cover it up in the hope of fulfilling their political ambitions. 'Scandal in '97' is a timely political thriller about the lengths some people will go to for power.
