I watched this movie in theaters right after it came out. To tell the truth, I was very disappointed. Most if not all jumpscares are cheap, there was one single spot that had me at the edge of my seat and it lasted maybe a minute and a half, there was one part which was so ridiculous that I couldn't help but laugh, putting a storyline over the original books was mediocre at best, and worst of all pretty much everything is so very much forced and the few moments that flowed well were still bad.

Kinda boring most of the movie it has the feeling of a kid movie but the dialogue of an adult film not really sure what audience its targeting so it's hard to recommend but the scary parts and there's only like 3 or 4 of them are actually exciting honestly but that only is about 15 minutes of a almost 2 hour film... next time if you go full force and make it an rated r film then it should be alot more interesting thanks for the experience though I grew up reading the books so it's nice I guess.

I grew up reading the original trilogy. Just the artwork alone was enough to drive a person mad(the original art, not the silly garbage they replaced it with later on). This movie is poorly written. They didn't use the actual stories. They stole the title and some characters from the book, and catfished all of us. The Silver Lining: Thankfully, these days people don't wait 20 years before rebooting something. Perhaps we will get the anthology series we and the original trilogy deserve.
