Second Samuel is an adaptation of Pamela Parker's play, Second Samuel. In the Summer of 1949, the small southern, sleepy town of Second Samuel is plunged into a stir of commotion and self-rumination by the passing of Miss Gertrude, "the sweetest woman whoever drawed a breath!". For twenty-five years, she has helped the sick, introduced sweethearts, taught piano lessons, even played for the church choir, and ever'body loves her apple pie. Nobody could have imagined how the death of one sweet little old lady would turn the entire town upside down, and leave everybody divided 'til this very day.
