Kuzhandai and Magizhini (Arthana) fall in love with each other. Both the families agree but father of the girl, Balu (Mansoor Ali Khan) suddenly disapproves the proposal as he gets a tempting offer from the local MLA. The latter promises to clear off the debts if Balu gets his daughter married to the son of MLA. Agitated by this, Kuzhandai and Magizh hatch a plan to elope and get married with the support of their mothers (Sujatha and Kovai Sarala). What happens from there is the rest of the movie.
