North Carolina mountains at the end of the 1920s - George and Serena Pemberton, love-struck newly-weds, begin to build a timber empire. Found it depressing from very early on nothing about it was uplifting. Still kept you watching till the bitter end but not that great of a watch...

Extremely good acting from Lawrence and Cooper but don't watch If you're looking for something uplifting or light hearted.

Great movie full of twists and turns. A shocking and tragic story set in beautiful scenery.
