About this movie

A sculptor (Michelle Williams) preparing to open a new show tries to work amidst the daily dramas of family and friends. A vibrant and captivatingly funny portrait of art & craft from beloved filmmaker Kelly Reichardt (First Cow, Certain Women), and with an endearing and charismatic ensemble cast including André Benjamin and Oscar-nominated actors Hong Chau and Judd Hirsch.

"Showing Up" is a film that details the private, sometimes never truly spoken process of making and refining your art. The main character, Lizzy, is a neurodivergent, private person who struggles with a dysfunctional family dynamic, a complicated relationship with her friend/fellow artist/landlord Jo, and her own personal difficulties to connect with other people in her art life, while trying to focus on her craft of sculpting ceramics. I loved it. 10/10

Another great film from Kelly Reichardt, who's one of the best filmmakers working today.
