Shutter island is one of those movies that you either love or don't. As someone who is extremely critical of movies and shows, and dislikes watching movies a second time, i do think that this movie is one of the best. Others will disagree, but whilst i forget 90% of the famous movies i watch, the last line of Shutter island will stay with me forever. It beats out many overrated movies with similar ideas, it does mental illness better than the Joker and plot twists better than Inception.

Somehow the second viewing is even more menacing, the eerie loneliness of the marshals position becomes increasingly intense when you realise every interaction he has with members of the asylum is condescending and mocking, really a terrifying movie!!

I loved every minute. The twist even had a twist!!
