Brad Pitt leads an all-star voice cast that includes Michelle Pfeiffer, Joseph Fiennes, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Dennis Haysbert in this epic animated twist on a classic. Its high-seas adventure and plenty of laughs when legendary swashbuckler Sinbad (Pitt), his loyal pooch Spike and the daring Princess Marina face off against the trickster Goddess of Chaos and her mischievous monsters.

We are thrust into a world of gods and monsters as we follow the adventures of the ineffable Sinbad and his rag tag crew as they plunder and pillage their way across the seven seas. Sinbad runs into an old friend and ends up having to save him from being executed by retrieving an artifact that is stolen by the goddess Eris who is just doing it "for the lulz". Eris is animated so smoothly that watching her move is like running your hands along fine silk. The action sequences are really exciting and definitely left me at the edge of my seat, biting my nails off. There are a lot of hilarious, laugh out loud moments-- some of which you will miss on your first viewing because the lines are delivered so smoothly. My only complaint with this film is the same complaint I have with films made during this era: the computer animated monsters are very distracting. The style choice is distracting and interrupts my suspension of disbelief because I cannot see the hand drawn characters "realistically" interacting with these CG monsters. That aside, this is a great movie to watch with your kids or on your own! It;s not Harryhausen's Sinbad but it's just as fun and kitschy.

Intriguing plot, compelling characters, and clever incorporation of some incredibly well known myths. We follow Sinbad, a pirate framed for stealing the legendary Book of Peace, as he comes to terms with his own heroism journeying to save his friend Proteus from execution in his place. Along every step he is countered by Eris, goddess of Discord (and total BAMF) and her many constellation minions. The animation is fantastic, especially considering the age of the film (though sometimes the mixture of 2D animation and CGI can throw the watcher for a loop). Eris was done FLAWLESSLY, and her voice made her even more enchanting. I'm serious, we could probably write half this review on how great Eris is. But Eris aside, the entire thing is beautifully done. It's comparable to Prince of Egypt The soundtrack is beautiful, well composed, well brought through, always invoking proper emotion. The Siren's song and Eris's theme are particularly well done, I would recommend a listen! This movie tells adventure as it should be told, at a pace which keeps the watcher interested and drew attention to every little detail. A good watch whenever!

It's wonderful and hilarious. But one thing that funnily doesn't add up, the goddess she's the a sphere of the world in the beginning but they "fall" off the end and the shipmates bet on it being flat.
