Illumination bombs again! You would have thought that after minions they would have tried something a little like Despicable Me, use a familiar plot formula yet freshen it up with good actors and jokes. This film does just that, only it's jokes are stupid. In addition to that, Illumination has created an elephant with stage fright to try and inspire children and play the sympathy card on older viewers! Like we haven't all seen that card played like a billion times! It's nothing more than a cartoon version of the X Factor with anthropomorphic animals, (Disney used that idea in Zootopia, they did it way better as well), and clichéd stereotypes! Try again Illumination!

Great: funny, engaging, tense, good music (for the most part). What more could you want? I don't know why many of the reviews I've seen are negative, it's a genuinely good film. There are emotional portions of the film, and it does get extremely tense at a time (no spoilers), but I really enjoyed it. Unlike other films, I did not get distracted by anything around me. I did sigh at a few bad puns, jokes and songs, like Anaconda, but there is also good humour. The use of anthropomorphism is extremely effective and I can really imagine this happening in real life. A funny, engaging film! Good one, Illumination!
