Jamal Malik, a penniless eighteen year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, is one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees on India's "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" But when the show breaks for the night, suddenly, he is arrested on suspicion of cheating. After all, how could an uneducated street kid possibly know so much? Hounded and questioned by everyone including the show's charismatic host - Prem Kumar , Jamal will reveal how every episode of his life is the key to the answer to each question - more importantly, its a key to find his love, his destiny and his life.

Ratings and reviews

The movie wasn't good at all. It was over hyped. If you tell me that this movie won the Oscar for its story, acting, direction..... I'd say Filmfare awards are far far better as the real talent is awarded. And talking about 'jai ho', that was the one of the worst songs sung by sukhwinder Singh with no rhythm no proper lyrics.Totally rubbish movie. Anyday anytime, I'd give it a 0/5....

Very overhyped. Its west's way to show India down. Dont know what those guys see in the movie to give it Oscars.

Good story on slum, film shows that yet too much poverty in India. Torcher in the police station showing our cruel mentality for backwards people.
